The water for Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village comes from three wells. The underground source of the well water is called the Tomstown formation. After the water is pumped out of the wells, it is filtered through a membrane filtration system. The membrane filtration system can remove harmful viruses and bacteria. To finish, a disinfectant is added to the filtered water to protect against microbial contamination. The Maryland Department of the Environment has performed an assessment of the source water.
