Completion of the “Our Next Chapter” Construction Projects
A Ceremonial Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Celebration will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 11am to honor Fahrney Keedy Senior Living Community’s Construction projects, titled “Our Next Chapter”.
The senior living community which has operated in Boonsboro, Md as a non-profit since 1905, has completed construction on a $14 million expansion endeavor which includes an Adult Day Service and Community Center AND a Memory Care Unit Expansion.
As the baby boomer generation ages, In the next 15 years alone, there will be a 60% increase in those seeking senior care services. Fahrney Keedy has made the proactive decision to prepare for the needs of this rapidly increasing population in our community.
Adult Day Service and Community Center
The Adult Day Service Center and Community Center project is a two story, 12,500 sq. ft. facility. This project includes activity areas, country kitchen and dining areas, lounge areas, a library, and a beautiful walking garden. One building is addressing two needs.
The upper level is the Community Center. This center is a place where Fahrney Keedy residents, family of resident’s and staff can utilize its amenities. They can visit the library, host family get togethers, bridge club, use the fitness gym and so much more. The fitness gym also supplies Fahrney Keedy with a space to provide out-patient rehabilitation services.
The bottom level will serve as the Adult Day Service Center, a new service for Fahrney Keedy. This project addresses a pressing need in Washington county as there are currently waiting lists to receive this sort of care. The center is geared toward seniors who are “aging in place” and can no longer safely live independently. These seniors live at home with family members who are still a part of the working community. This center will be open Monday through Friday and will be capable of providing 40 area seniors with a place to go when their care givers are at work. Seniors will break the monotony of days spent at home alone. They will receive nutritious meals, engaging activities, medication management and more within this center. Seniors are safe and cared for during the day, Care givers receive “peace of mind” knowing that their loved one is in good hands.
Memory Care Unit
The second project addresses another serious need in our area. The current Memory Care Unit at Fahrney Keedy is consistently full, with a waiting list. They have added 18 rooms to the existing 12 room unit. The unit will now care for 30 area seniors with memory impairments such as dementia. This 17,500 sq. ft. secure and state-of-the-art expansion will include a beautiful conservatory, salon, private dining areas and so much more.
Fahrney Keedy will be recognized by many local & state government officials who are slated to attend the ribbon cutting event. Many will bestow proclamations and certificates of recognition to the senior living community. Speakers at the event are to include:
